APECS Italy is the Italian branch of the Association of Polar Early Career Scientists.
APECS is a voluntary organisation consisting of undergraduate, Master and PhD students, postdoctoral researchers and early faculty members who are interested in sharing their passion about the polar regions.
The aims of APECS Italy are:
- to foster interdisciplinary and international research collaborations
- to promote education and outreach about polar issues to younger generations and the general public
- to spread information about opportunities, events, courses
- to help develop the future leaders in polar research

VII National Conference APECS Italy
Registration for the VII National Conference of APECS Italy is now officially open!
This year, the event is dedicated to the International Year of Glacier Preservation, proclaimed on January 21, 2025, by UNESCO and WMO.
The conference will be enriched by the participation of leading experts in the field, who will contribute high-level talks, making the two-day event an important opportunity for scientific discussion and in-depth exploration of this topic.
The National Board of APECS Italy is looking for two new members.
The 5° APECS Italy national conference will take place on 8-9 November 2023. This year, thanks to our collaboration with the Venice Institute of Sciences, Literature and Arts and the Institute of Polar Sciences (CNR ISP), the conference will be held at Palazzo Loredan in Venice as well as online. The 4° APECS Italy National Conference will take place on October 19-20 2022. This year, thanks to our collaboration with CNR (Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche), the conference will be held in presence in Bologna as well as online.
