We are looking for enthusiastic, motivated, and proactive people to help drive the future of APECS Italy.

Being a board member involves many responsibilities and it represents an excellent opportunity for human and professional growth. In recent years, we have successfully organized three national conferences, a workshop, numerous interdisciplinary seminars, and various outreach activities. In the near future, our goal is to continue to grow by establishing connections and collaborations with other national and international bodies and realities, organizing events, and reaching out to young polar researchers and potential new members; in this respect, an enhancement of our presence on social media would help broaden the range of communication by better responding to the needs of the APECS Italy community

Here’s who we are looking for:

• Early-career polar researchers or dedicated polar enthusiasts *
• Someone who can dedicate a few hours a week to help run APECS Italy, attend internal APECS Italy board meetings, and represent us at events. **
• Someone who can help us in managing social media or graphics
• Responsible people eager to get things done and propose new ideas
• People able to work in a young, dynamic and welcoming team

What you will do:

As a member of the national committee, you will contribute to various activities, including:

• Writing and producing content for social media (especially Instagram, LinkedIn and Facebook)
• Taking care of the graphics section (including creating images for the promotion of events and initiatives on social)
• Assisting with APECS International activities
• Reaching out to new members and organizations within the national and international polar community
• Helping organize events in person and online

Selection procedure:

Candidates will be selected following an informal online interview where the characteristics of the two open positions will be discussed in detail. The selected people will join the board for an informal three-month probation period, after which the two parties can confirm or not whether they are willing to continue on a permanent basis.

* APECS welcomes students and postdoctoral researchers, early-career faculty members, early-career professionals, educators, and anyone with an interest in the polar and alpine regions and the cryosphere in general.

** Being part of the committee certainly takes time; nonetheless, it is a considerable educational and professional investment: just think of the collaborative relationships established with researchers and professors dealing with the polar regions, as well as the transversal skills that can be developed (including website management, social media management, and event organization).
